Fabrik Change Required Field Icon

The default icon for a required field is an eye, and I wanted a red star. It wasn’t hard and this following article got me started.

https://www.chrismendlatech.com/2011/08/changing-the-required-icon-for-fabrik-forms-in-joomla-from-an-envelope-to-a-star/

Start by going into the Element’s properties by going to “Elements” and then double-click on the element you want to add the requirement. This assume you have a validation on element already if not click the Add button to add one. I used the “notempty” plugin. At the bottom you will see a field for “icon”. It pulls from the “/media/com_fabrik/images” folder and I choose one of the .png files that was there, so in the field I just added the text “notempty.png”.

I hope this helps someone else out there.

Joomla – Fabrik – 0 Unable to connect to the Database:

I had a Fabrik project that I wanted so show someone and when I got there I saw this message.

0 Unable to connect to the Database: This driver is unsupported in PHP 7, please use the MySQLi or PDO MySQL driver instead.

My Joomla was version Joomla! 3.8.6. I had recently upgraded the server to PHP 7, so I found what broke it. I found this article to get me started.

http://fabrikar.com/forums/index.php?threads/if-in-joomla-3-5-you-get-this-driver-is-unsupported-in-php-7-try.43721/

I needed my Joomla! version and I found in the backend >>  System >> System information.

The solution was to change the SQL driver in Administrator side to “MySQLI(PDO)”. You get there by going to Global Configuration >> Server, and it will be in the upper right.

I hope this helps someone else out there…

Solved – 500 Fabrik has generated an incorrect query for the list

I moved a Joomla 3.7.2 site that has a Fabrik application in it to a new host, and when I did I got the “500 Fabrik has generated an incorrect query for the list…” error.

I made sure the connection was good. The issue turned out to be the “List” was locked.

Another time I go this issue was due to my database connection. I moved the site to a new location but didn’t update the Fabrik “Connection”.

Joomla 3.7.2 – Fabrik Install – Strict standards: Declaration of FabTable::getFields() should be compatible with JTable::getFields($reload = false) in C:\wamp\www\grimeymedia\administrator\components\com_fabrik\tables\fabtable.php on line 119

Wanted to play around in Fabrik again but got this error when trying to install.

Strict standards: Declaration of FabTable::getFields() should be compatible with JTable::getFields($reload = false) in C:\wamp\www\grimeymedia\administrator\components\com_fabrik\tables\fabtable.php on line 119

I had to uninstall the 2o some plugins that some with this component.

I downloaded the master .zip file from Git Hub.

https://github.com/Fabrik/fabrik

This didn’t install well. Missing XML file error.

I finally just used the Joomla Web Installer. It installed version 3.6 of Fabrik and worked well with my Joomla 3.7.2 core package.
