Facebook Apps / Joomla Modules No Longer Working

We use a couple of Modules in Joomla that tap into Facebook events. This week these broke.

Facebook put out an official statement about cracking down on abuse.

Facebook is reviewing all their apps. They are turning off apps that haven’t been used in last three months.

Responsive IFrame In Joomla 3

This is an issue that I have come across many times and I really liked this last solution I found from this site.

http://howtosurvivejoomla.altervista.org/tutorial/5-responsive-articles-iframe

I use the JCE pro and had a little trouble following the article, but the author did a great job putting the article together. Here is where the “Styles” area is in the Pro version.

Components >> JCE >> Profiles.

In the Profiles section click on “Default“.  Then go to the “Plugin Parameters” tab, and scroll down to the “Styles” section. Click on the “Styles” tab and the right side of the screen will bring up settings.

I was localhost and I just added the new CSS to my “custom” style sheet. I went back to the article and set the style of the IFrame I had already inserted through the JCE Pro and added the new style to it.

ChronoForms – 1146 Table ‘XXXXXXXXX.#__chronoengine_forms6_blocks’ doesn’t exist

I moved a Joomla 3.8 site with Chronoforms 6 and I got this error:

 1146 Table 'XXXXXXXXX.#__chronoengine_forms6_blocks' doesn't exist

I quickly found this post.

https://www.chronoengine.com/forums/posts/t104239/1146-table-xxxxxxxxx-chronoengine-forms6-blocks-doesnt-exist

I backed up the form. Uninstalled the Chronoforms6 component and plugin. Downloaded the latest versions and restored the form. After that everything worked fine.

Adding A Video To Joomla 3 Article / Page – Using JCE Pro

I needed to add a video to page/article in a Joomla! 3.8 site. I saw the JCE advertises as being able to do this with just a URL. I love the way WordPress embeds YouTube videos and hoped it would be the same experience. It wasn’t, but it wasn’t bad.

The first issue I had was my subscription was expired. That was a cheap fix. Less than 30 bucks and ready. After installing the Pro component I didn’t see where I could add video yet. I tried just the URL but that didn’t work. I solved my issue by adding the special toolbar in the JCE to the normal JCE toolbar. Here is a video of how to set this.

Solved – 500 Fabrik has generated an incorrect query for the list

I moved a Joomla 3.7.2 site that has a Fabrik application in it to a new host, and when I did I got the “500 Fabrik has generated an incorrect query for the list…” error.

I made sure the connection was good. The issue turned out to be the “List” was locked.

Another time I go this issue was due to my database connection. I moved the site to a new location but didn’t update the Fabrik “Connection”.

Joomla 3.7.2 – Fabrik Install – Strict standards: Declaration of FabTable::getFields() should be compatible with JTable::getFields($reload = false) in C:\wamp\www\grimeymedia\administrator\components\com_fabrik\tables\fabtable.php on line 119

Wanted to play around in Fabrik again but got this error when trying to install.

Strict standards: Declaration of FabTable::getFields() should be compatible with JTable::getFields($reload = false) in C:\wamp\www\grimeymedia\administrator\components\com_fabrik\tables\fabtable.php on line 119

I had to uninstall the 2o some plugins that some with this component.

I downloaded the master .zip file from Git Hub.

https://github.com/Fabrik/fabrik

This didn’t install well. Missing XML file error.

I finally just used the Joomla Web Installer. It installed version 3.6 of Fabrik and worked well with my Joomla 3.7.2 core package.

Joomla Turn Off PHP Version Warning In The Administrative Area

After upgrading my Joomla sites to 3.7 whenever I log into the back-end I get a warning that my PHP will not be supported in another year.

My friend at BMoreCreative showed me to turn this off.

  • Once logged into the administrative area go to Extensions >> Plug-ins.
  • Do a search for “quick”.
  • Uncheck “Quick Icon – PHP Version Check”

Joomla 3.7 Upgrade – Law Swift Template – K2 Content Module Displaying All The Posts

I purchased this theme last year and it has been great.

https://themeforest.net/item/law-swift-lawyer-attorney-business-template/9431146

I upgraded to Joomla 3.7 and the K2 content modules broke. They would display all the posts at once.

I fixed this issue by uninstalling the T3 Framework plugin, downloading a new version, and installed the new version. Totally fixed the issue.

Disable or turn off Akeeba Backup Before Updating Joomla

I needed to update to Joomla 3.7 and every time I did it ran an Akeeba backup. I already ran the back up before I started, so I just wanted to update the Joomla core.

You can do this by go into the Administrative area >> Extensions  >> and Plug-ins. Look for “System – Backup on update” and uncheck it.

This article helped me solve this.

I recently updated virtumart in a Joomla 3.6.5 site and got the following error.

1054 Unknown column ‘product_stockhandle’ in ‘field list’ SQL=UPDATE `#__virtuemart_products` SET `virtuemart_vendor_id`=’1′,

It was longer than that, but I needed to fix the site so I don’t the rest would help. I could be wrong.

My last back up was too long ago. I was kind of screwed.

I restored the backup in a close directory on the production server. It was on https so I couldn’t do it localhost. I exported all the virtuemart tables in one MySQL statement by selecting “custom” when exporting. I did have to move the images/stories/virtumart directory. After that the store was operating normally. I made a backup before doing anything else.

I  used FTP and copied the components/virtumart directory over to the site that had issue; however, this didn’t fix the issue. Not sure what broke.
